At an altitude of 720 m, the belvedere at Ponthoux, named after the village it overlooks, offers a breathtaking view of the Lizon plateau. Leaving from Avignon-lès-Saint Claude, this is a forest walk punctuated by numerous other viewpoints over Saint-Claude and the Vallée de la Bienne.

ACCESS: From Saint Claude town centre, cross the Pont de Pierre, then take the D437 towards Morez/Morbier/ Saint-Laurent. Cross the level crossing and take the left-hand lane towards Avignon-lès-Saint-Claude. Follow the road for 3 km, uphill, to the centre of the village and the
town hall. Start from the car park in front of the chapel and the town hall.
