The village of Kuhlendorf, near Betschdorf and Soultz-sous-Forêts, boasts the only half-timbered church in northern Alsace. It dates back to 1820 and is a listed historic monument. The building served not only as a church, but also as a school to the rear. A classroom and teacher's quarters were located upstairs. Push open the old school door and take a look at the original furnishings.
A few steps away, admire the "Wachthiesel", a 19th-century timber-framed guardhouse.
A picnic area and playground are just outside the village in the direction of Soultz-sous-Forêts.
