Adapted from Henri Alleg?s text, superbly played by Stanislas Nordey, Laurent Meininger?s question raises the issue of the torture practiced by the French army in Algeria.
To bear witness to the unspeakable in the name of all those who died without being able to speak. Prisoner during the Algerian war, journalist and communist activist Henri Alleg was tortured by French soldiers. Urged on by his lawyer, he set about recounting in minute detail what he endured on a daily basis: flesh burned to a crisp, unbearable pain, humiliation.
Immersed in this nightmare, Stanislas Nordey doesn't play, he is Henri Alleg and all those men who suffer under torture and resist. Even today.
