COLOMBIER DE CHALINDREY

Listed as a Monument Historique in 1975, the dovecote at Place Carnot is an imposing late 17th-century building erected under authorization by the cathedral chapter, lord of the manor.
Round in shape, it features an ashlar base, a half-height randière and a conical roof covered in flat tiles. Pigeons fly in through an elegant dormer opening at the base of the roof on the north side.
Beautiful vaulted cellar inside. A staircase dug into the wall provided access to the hundreds of tufa stone pigeon holes scattered along the masonry.
Roof renovated in 1986.

Not open to the public: private site only visible from the outside.
