In this new work, Rachid Ouramdane takes his research into aerial movement a stage further, in a work that combines body-to-body and flight.
Following on from Corps extrêmes, which sold out at the Dijon Opéra in 2022, Contre-nature explores the possibility of weightlessness. For this, the choreographer has chosen to surround himself with ten "heterogeneous performers", with different backgrounds but with the common denominator of being craftsmen of gesture and space, equally at ease in the air or on the ground. The result is a show in which, behind the diversity of practices, a common gestural grammar emerges and is invented. On a bare stage, sculpted at times by light and at others by images that appear in the mist, Contre-nature is halfway between the necessary seriousness and the joyful quest for lightness.
