In September 1915, Blaise CENDRARS, a volunteer in the Foreign Legion, fought on the Champagne front. Wounded in action, he had part of his right arm amputated and left to convalesce at the bishop's palace in Châlons-sur-Marne, where he met the head nurse, Madame Adrienne. She quickly spotted the writer's ability to push back his limits in order to rebuild himself and regain a taste for life. So she asked him to share a room with other patients and tell them stories to lift their spirits: he would heal himself by healing others. Born in Belfort, Jean-Yves RUF is both director and actor, bringing to life the autobiographical story of a survivor of the Great War and telling us, with great modesty, the story of his rebirth.
