Église Saint-Martin de Fronsac

Founded according to legend by Charlemagne in 781, this church probably originally had a monastic purpose. It is thought that a first building for Christian worship was erected on a former Gallo-Roman estate
The present building has a flat chevet, pierced by two arched windows decorated with scroll archivolts, now walled. The north façade is decorated with semi-circular pilasters and a double horizontal row of zigzag rafters, dating from the 11th century. A side nave was added to the south of the building in the 14th century. The church is listed in the supplementary inventory of Historical Monuments.
