Fuligny

The 12th/17th century church of Fuligny was donated in 1180 by Mathieu, Bishop of Troyes, to the Maison Dieu in Bar sur Aube. The village gave its name to the chivalric Fuligny family, attested to by numerous deeds from the 12th to the end of the 15th century. Fuligny is also home to the explorer du Pont de Compiègne (1846-1877), who died in Cairo following a pistol duel. In the Eglise Saint Laurent, you can see: - a baptismal font - an altarpiece depicting a martyred priest with his hand on the stake - a painting of Christ on the cross between the Virgin Mary, Saint John and Saint Barbara - statues of Saint Nicolas, Saint Georges and Saint Edme - fragments of 16th-century stained-glass windows depicting the Eternal Father. (Source: Lucien MOREL PAYEN, Troyes et l'Aube) Population: 54 (Source INSEE-PSDC 1999) Surface area: 1034 hectares Altitude: 230 meters
