At the end of the 18th century, the Bishop of Metz entrusted Blondel with the construction of a new episcopal palace. The work begun in 1785 was interrupted by the Revolution. Organised around a square courtyard, this beautiful building, which respects the overall style of the Place d'Armes, finally became the Covered Market in 1833.
