Pfaffenhoffen is a town of images, and offers all the modes of representation in its Musée de l?Image Populaire and its discovery circuit. The Museum, the only one of its kind in Europe, presents collections and techniques of hand-painted Alsatian popular imagery. With the help of a map of the discovery circuit through the streets, gardens and squares, you'll be able to appreciate the painted and sculpted works, both ancient and contemporary. The Club Vosgien du Val de Moder also offers a number of tours around Val-de-Moder and along the Moder river.
Ringeldorf, a small village of 140 inhabitants, is part of the Giscardian legend.
Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, former President of the Republic, was unanimously elected here in 1974. It was a success that the head of state saluted with a surprise visit to the village on May 20, 1975. The village's main street bears his name. On January 1, 2019, the new commune of Val-de-Moder expanded to include the village of Ringeldorf, previously a member of the Pays de la Zorn community of communes.
La Walck's industrial past is well known for the footwear industry, with over twenty shoe factories and workshops after the Second World War, including Adidas. But La Walck was also marked, towards the end of the Second World War, by a double liberation. The Americans of the 45th USID liberated the commune on December 1, 1944, after fierce fighting. At the end of December, however, the Germans launched Operation Nordwind, which saw La Walck reoccupied by the Germans on January 23, 1945. But thanks to the American "Undertone" operation, Alsace, and therefore La Walck, was completely liberated on March 19, 1945. 46 people from the commune lost their lives.
The name of the commune of Uberach is first mentioned in a deed signed by Charles IV, dated the Friday after Ascension Day in 1351. In it, the Landvogts of Alsace and the magistrates of Haguenau were instructed to allow the commune of "Uberoche" and other communes bordering the Haguenau forest to enjoy woodland, fishing and roaming rights. In Uberach, savor, taste and visit the Uberach Brewery and the Hepp Distillery, beers and brandies are strong identities of the local gastronomy.
