Created in 1760 at the time of King Louis XV, the Dromel family settled in rue de Rome not far from the port of Marseille in order to ensure the marketing of goods imported from our colonies: sugar, coffee, cocoa, teas, spices... Mr. Dromel was at the origin of the sugar square by inventing a machine to cut whole loaves. In 1834, the business was named "Dromel Neveu", later "Dromel Ainé" since it was taken over by the eldest member of the family.
Today, it is a family of confectioners since 1896, specializing in marrons glacés, which runs this institution dear to the people of Marseilles from generation to generation, from century to century! The shop in the rue de Rome closed on July 3rd 2010 and today we find it at 19 avenue du Prado (Castellane) in the 6th district of the city.
