Fortschwihr

The site has been occupied since Gallo-Roman times. The village is mentioned in 1315 under the name of Volratwilr. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was completely destroyed and repopulated in 1687 by Dominican and Jesuit friars. During the Second World War, Fortschwihr was evacuated and bombed.
