Ergersheim

Situated between Molsheim and Strasbourg, Ergersheim is a traditional wine-growing and agricultural village, part of the Strasbourg vineyards: the Couronne d'Or.

Along the Compostelle trail, the village was until recently home to a community of Cistercian nuns. The Baroque church of Saint-Nicolas was rebuilt in the 18th century. The lower part of the side bell tower dates back to medieval times, while the nave contains interesting Baroque furnishings. The main façade features a neo-Romanesque portal dating from 1873.
Nearby, two chapels bear witness to vanished villages: Altbronn and Rimlen. To the north is the chapel of Maria Altbronn, the only building left intact after the village's disappearance. It was erected in 1397 as a pilgrimage in honor of the Virgin Queen. To the east, the 12th-century chapel of Saint-Michel in its vineyard setting belonged to the hamlet of Rimlenheim, which disappeared in 1444.

The Bruche canal, founded by Vauban, runs through the village. The old towpath has been transformed into a cycle path: the Canal de la Bruche cycle route to Strasbourg.
